This tree planting was installed in 2011 on private land in Drave, parish of Covelo de Paivô, Arouca, Aveiro, with the aim of creating small groves to benefit the wolf and its wild prey. It is part of the homogeneous sub-region of Freita of the PROF AMPEDV – Regional Forest Management Plan of the Porto Metropolitan Area and Entre Douro e Vouga. The site is located near the Palhais stream, and is mainly covered with herbaceous vegetation.
The land occupies a total area of 1 ha. The forest species selected to afforest this area were the cork oak (Quercus suber), black oak (Pyrenean thorn (Quercus pyrenaica)) and Birch (Betula celtibericaDue to the presence of goat herds in this location, and with the aim of increasing the success of the young plants' establishment, we placed individual protectors as a means of protecting the young plants.
