The area subject to intervention is a plot of common land belonging to the Parish of Monteiras, Castro Daire. The intervention area is a mountainous zone, mostly occupied by oak trees and various scrubland.

The total intervention area is approximately 75 hectares. An agreement was signed between the ICNF (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests), the Monteiras Parish Council, and ACHLI (Association of Forests, Woods and Leisure Centers of Monteiras). Throughout the duration of the protocol, various interventions will be carried out with the aim of protecting existing forest areas, as well as improving the habitat in general. Interventions may include fuel management, densification, planting, among others.
