The area subject to intervention is a plot of common land belonging to the Parish of Castanheira, Paredes de Coura. The intervention area is a mountainous zone, integrated into the Corno de Bico Protected Landscape, and is occupied by a diversity of stands of beech, chestnut, oak, and pine trees, as well as various scrubland areas.
The total intervention area is approximately 118 hectares. A protocol was signed between the Parish Council of Castanheira, the Steering Committee of the Corno de Bico Protected Landscape, and ACHLI. Throughout the protocol's validity, various interventions will be carried out with the aim of protecting existing forest areas, as well as improving the habitat in general. Interventions may include fuel management, densification, afforestation, among others.
