Wolf monitoring plan south of the Douro River
The Wolf Monitoring Plan in the South of the Douro River (PML-SD) continues the monitoring of wolf packs in Arada, Cinfães, Montemuro, Leomil, Lapa and Trancoso, and the Penedono area, which was initiated within the scope of previous Monitoring Plans also under the responsibility of ACHLI.
The aim of implementing the PML-SD is to achieve the following overall objectives:
- Monitoring and analysis of population and spatial dynamics;
Assessment of impacts resulting from habitat disturbance factors, namely wind farm projects;
Assessment and proposal of conservation measures;
Comprehensive assessment of the lupine population in the region.
The overall coordination of this project is the responsibility of ACHLI. The technical-scientific component and execution are ensured by two distinct teams:
- Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources of the University of Porto (CIBIO-UP)
- Department of Biology, University of Aveiro (DBio-UA)
